Meet Dr Shelley Grumbridge

Women deserve better than being told it's just their age.

My story — not a CV

I've been a doctor for more than twenty years, and a GP for eighteen of them. And for most of that time I've watched the same thing happen, over and over: a woman comes in — exhausted, low, not sleeping, carrying weight that won't budge, in skin she doesn't recognise — and she leaves ten minutes later with a prescription for one small piece of it, or with nothing at all. Not because her GP doesn't care, but because ten minutes was never going to be enough.

The truth is that midlife health doesn't fit into ten minutes. Your hormones, your sleep, your stress, your nutrition, your bones, your heart, your skin and your confidence are all part of the same picture — and when one shifts, the others follow. I built Dr SG to give women the thing the system so rarely can: time, real expertise, and a plan.

I created the Women's Health MOT™ because every woman deserves one appointment where somebody finally looks at everything. And I do the aesthetic side of my work for the same reason — because I've watched, again and again, what happens when a woman looks in the mirror and recognises herself. It changes far more than her skin.

My background

  • GP for eighteen years, currently practising in Greater Manchester

  • Women's health and menopause specialist — I've led NHS Women's Health hubs across Greater Manchester and Oldham, and trained over 150 clinicians

  • Director and GP with a Specialist Interest in Rheumatology and MSK Medicine, Pennine MSK Partnership

  • Clinical Lead, Health Innovation Manchester — bringing safe, evidence-based innovation into NHS practice

  • Named GP for Safeguarding, Greater Manchester ICS

  • Trained aesthetic doctor, focused on regenerative and injectable treatments

  • Named among the top 50 GPs in England — an “Unsung Hero” award for my work during the pandemic

Why I built Dr SG

Because your health, your hormones, your confidence, your skin and your future are one story, not five separate ones. Because women in midlife are, in my experience, the most overlooked patients in medicine. And because “your best self” was never about looks — it's energy, strength, clarity and confidence, and I want you to have all four for decades to come.

What I won't compromise on

Everything I offer has to earn its place. Before I'll recommend a treatment or a supplement to you, it has to get past the same five questions I ask myself: is there real evidence behind it? Does it actually work the way it claims to? Is it safe? Would I use it myself? And would I be happy giving it to my own family?

If it doesn't pass, it doesn't make it into my clinic, however fashionable it is. You'll always get my honest opinion — even when that opinion is “you don't need this.” I'd rather lose the sale than your trust.
